WCEH Pre-Conference Ph.D. Workshop: Integration of Historical Research in Interdisciplinary Environmental and Resource Management – How Past Experiences Can Help Mold Future Solutions Sponsored by WCEH – 2009 and Roskilde University. Location: Roskilde University Campus, Roskilde, Denmark Date: August 2nd – 3rd, 2009 As of 11 PM (GMT+2) 14 May, there are no vacant places left, but you can still send your application in case someone cancels !!! sorry...Background: As part of the WCEH program, we are offering a workshop for Ph.d. students under the theme “Integration of historical research in interdisciplinary environmental and resource management – how past experiences can help mold future solutions”. The basic concept of the workshop is to hold a forum where Ph.d. students can hear about and discuss how environmental historical research can be incorporated with both physical and socio-economical aspects of environmental problems, and how we can best combine the natural, social and historical sciences to best manage these problems. The program will be led by six professionals working within the fields of environmental history and interdisciplinary environmental management. These experts will provide key note seminars and lead group-based discussions on interdisciplinary management and communication. Directions to the university will be provided directly to registered conference participants. About Roskilde University: Roskilde University is a state university founded in 1972 with the objective of providing research and education at the highest level in the fields of natural science, social science and the humanities.These activities at Roskilde University are organized in six departments; degrees are offered in a wide range of subjects at Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. levels. Registration and Accommodation A reasonable registration fee of €80 is requested. The registration fee includes coffee and lunches for both workshop days, and dinner in the city of Roskilde for August 2nd. It also covers materials used during the workshop. In order to register, you need to fill out the registration form provided on the website and either e-mail (preferred), fax, or snail-mail it to Guillaume Drillet at Roskilde University. Upon receipt of the registration form, a payment form for the registration fee will be sent. Your registration will not be confirmed until payment is received. The deadline for registration is May 15, 2009. The deadline for receipt of payment is June 30, 2009. Accommodation for the students attending the workshop will most certainly be provided free of charge from August 1st through August 4th (three nights). Students will be provided with shared rooms on the university campus (single rooms are not available). Breakfast will also be included. Rooms will be separated between male and females. Accommodation must be specifically requested on the registration form. Student participating actively to the workshop can ask for a proof of participation and will be offered 2 ECTS if they ask for it.
